Infinity Nikki launches today as series’ first cross-platform game

Infold Games’ stylist adventure game Infinity Nikki has launched globally today, December 5th, transforming this once-mobile exclusive into a multiplatform open-world RPG.

The title marks the fifth entry in the 12-year-old series and has scaled up the franchise that much further with 3D platforming, puzzle-solving and plenty of dressing up to be found within. Infold Games has styled Infinity Nikki as "the cosiest open-world game".

Dressed her best

Infinity Nikki successfully hit its 30 million pre-registration target in time for launch, outperforming the likes of HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail.

In going cross-platform for the first time, the series has expanded from mobile to PC, PS4 and PS5.

The Nikki franchise had humble beginnings in 2012 as a dress-up mobile game called Nikki UP2U, where players would dress the titular protagonist in various outfits depending on her plans - whether that was going out for dinner or getting ready for bed.

The sequel Hello Nikki - Let’s Beauty Up saw Nikki go on worldwide travels, but third entry Love Nikki - Dress Up Queen was when the series exploded in popularity. Fantastical lands and dress-up battles drove this mobile game to over 100 million installs and more than $285 million in gross revenue by AppMagic estimates, and the series hasn’t looked back since.

The latest entry in the series before today, Shining Nikki - Fashion Makeover, has made over $400 million since its release in 2019.

New style

2024’s Infinity Nikki is building upon its predecessors with high-fidelity outfits developed in Unreal Engine 5 and the power of "Whim", enabling players to create new style at any time.

There are also plenty of new regions to explore in Miraland, from lush forests to enchanted kingdoms, designed with former The Legend of Zelda director Kentaro Tominaga at the helm.
