Apple set to open new Dublin office

Apple is set to open a new office in Dublin, Ireland that will house several hundred staff.

As reported by Business Post, the iPhone maker has been in search of an office in Dublin for the past six months and is expected to seal the deal before Christmas. 

Once the deal is done, Apple will take up roughly 60,000 square feet and three floors at  Four & Five Park Place in the city centre 

Apple already has a significant presence in the country with its office in Cork, employing around 6,000 staff.

Apple's legal and regulatory challenges 

Apple recently made headlines in Ireland for different reasons after being ordered to pay the country €13 billion ($14bn) in unpaid taxes by the European Court of Justice, which first brought forward proceedings in 2016. Ireland’s own government had tried to appeal the decision.

The European Commission’s executive VP said the judgement was a “huge win for European citizens and tax justice”. Apple commented that it was “disappointed” with the decision and claimed the European Commission was trying to “retroactively change the rules”.
