Supercell is hiring for a “small cross-functional team” based in London to support development on Squad Busters.

The developer currently has roles open in the UK for a senior game programmer, senior game artist and senior game data analyst

The job listings note that while the role is London-based, it’s looking for new hires to “spend plenty of time” at its Helsinki HQ during their first six months for onboarding.

We’ve reached out to Supercell for further details and comment.

Global teams

Supercell has offices in a few cities around the world, including its Helsinki HQ, its Shanghai and San Francisco studios focused on development and marketing, and a Seoul office responsible for marketing efforts in the local region.

Supercell owns a majority stake in London studio and Beatstar developer Space Ape Games. It has also previously acquired a majority stake in Love & Pies maker Trailmix.

In Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen’s annual blog post for 2023, he discussed how the company was moving from an office-first culture and opening up to potential hybrid and fully-remote roles.

“Currently, this is focused on our North America studio teams, who are all fully remote right now,” said Paananen at the time.

“In Helsinki, each team thinks slightly differently about this, but overall, many of the teams will move to this direction in Helsinki as well. In fact, starting this month, the first fully remote positions in some of our teams will open up, where it is possible to be fully remote from certain European countries.”

Busting out

Squad Busters marked Supercell’s first game launch in five and a half years when it released globally on May 29th

According to AppMagic estimates, the title has generated $77.9m in gross revenue from the App Store and Google Play to date. It should be noted these estimates do not include web shop revenue or player spending on other third-party stores.

Update: A Supercell spokesperson confirmed that the company is recruiting for some live ops roles for Squad Busters in London.

They added that the developer already as a number of remote employees in the London area, so has created a co-working space for staff.

"We believe we can find the right people for Squad Busters' roles from the talent pool that either already exists in the UK or is willing to relocate there, which is why we decided to place them in London," read a statement.

"Also, the Squad Busters team believes that these new positions will work best if they are located in the same 'remote' place from Helsinki's point of view, where they can operate as a small pod for the bigger team, instead of having people in many different locations."
