French start-up RIVRS has successfully secured €4 million ($4.4m) in its first round of funding.

The round was exclusively led by Pléiade Venture, an investment firm that pursues high-growth companies.

This round of funding will support the continued development of games on platforms such as Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft and help prepare for international expansion.

RIVRS currently has 14 titles to its name, boasting 1.5 million players.

More funds, more games

Founded in 2021 by Romain Hubert and Loïc Deffains, RIVRS focuses on the UGC games market boom, making €500,000 ($551,502) in revenue with just one game alone.

The company has proven itself capable of bringing games to the market quickly, making it a competitive player in the space.

“Our proven business model and our ability to create quality games at a rapid pace put us in pole position to capture a significant share of the global UGC video game market," said RIVRS co-founder and CEO Romain Hubert.

"This round of financing marks a key milestone in our history and enables us to release our ambition of becoming the world leader in UGC video games in the coming years.”

Roblox founder and CEO David Baszucki recently shared aspirations to see “10% of all gaming revenue” flow through the Roblox ecosystem and is set on a mission to grow the platform's daily active users from 79.5 million to one billion.

We also recently named Roblox in our Top 50 Game Makers of 2024 list.
