While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.

So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they've made the cut.

King Arthur: Legends Rise

Netmarble's latest squad-based RPG King Arthur: Legends Rise offers a dark new twist to Arthurian legend. Embodying the mythical figure himself, players can expect an adventure-packed story full of dungeons and colosseums, turn-based combat and a quest to stop the return of ancient gods.

There’s also a PvP mode and cross-play support for those seeking even more challenges.

After Inc.

The developer behind Plague Inc. and Rebel Inc., Ndemic Creations, is back again with the latest Inc.stallment to its catalogue. Titled After Inc., the latest strategy simulation game throws city builder and ‘mini 4X’ into the mix as players are tasked with rebuilding the world after the Necroa Virus ravaged humanity.

Fantasy Voyager

yt

The Lord of Nightmares has awakened and invaded the Dream Kingdom, but where better to fight back than in a world filled with dark incarnations of Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Peter Pan?

Combining auto chess and tower defence, Fantasy Tree’s Fantasy Voyager might just be a dream come true for fairytale fans, provided they’re prepared for a few unsettling twists.

Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago

yt

Indie studio 14 Hours Productions is taking the retro route as 2024 winds to a close, with Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago marking a potential comeback for digital pet simulators. This Tamagotchi-inspired title tasks players with protecting an elf egg until it hatches and raising the youngling into mighty hero.

It adds an RPG spin to the genre with the elf going out to explore, vanquish evil, but also coming back for some much-needed relaxation with the one who raised them.

Mister Antonio

yt

Bart Bonte is back again with another stylistic mobile game, this time focused less overtly on colours and more on cats. Mister Antonio the cat, to be exact.

Though after previous releases like yellow, orange, purple and green, of course colours still play a role, as the titular feline demands players collect coloured balls in an exact sequence and bring them back to him - fussy in a way that only a cat could get away with.

Globs

yt

Another indie title, Globs was developed by fledgling French studio Ninesliced as part of the 2024 GMTK Game Jam. Three months later and it has been released as a premium game on Android and PC, formally introducing the world to the colourful, size-changing Globs and their puzzle-solving properties, plus over 40 levels to clear already.
