Indian mobile games developer Nazara Games has partnered with Paris-based animation studio Xilam Animation on a series of games using the Oggy & the Cockroaches IP.

The deal will see Nazara developing several mobile games using the IP targeted at a young audience. The first of these games is expected to launch in Latin America, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions in the first quarter of 2018.

Oggy & the Cockroaches currently has 3.5 million fans on Facebook and 1.2 million subscribers on YouTube. It has been airing around the world for almost 20 years.

Global appeal

"With Oggy & the Cockroches, Nazara will continue to deliver high quality games for the global market," said Nazara CEO Manish Agarwal.

"We have built a strong portfolio of successful games targeting younger audience in India over last two years and now with partnership with Oggy & the Cockroaches IP, Nazara is aiming to tap younger audience segment across the emerging markets beyond India by leveraging the global appeal of the IP."

Nazara has already been busy in 2018, having acquired a majority stake in World Cricket Championship developer Nextwave Multimedia. The developer has achieved over 100 million downloads across its portfolio in the last seven years.
