Rainbow Six Mobile is returning to soft launch after a seven-month hiatus with new content on the way.

Ubisoft shared its plans for three "phases" in a roadmap to full release with the game’s Reddit community, giving an exclusive update on Rainbow Six Mobile’s state of play.

Playing through the phases

The title’s resumed soft launch will kick off Phase 1. This will largely be a period of data collection, gathering feedback from players and the community.

Ubisoft has dubbed it a "technical test" period to monitor not only fans’ reception of features but also the speed and effectiveness of the development team in responding to crashes and other potential issues that arise.

Once this test proves "successful," the soft launch will move to Phase 2, or the "engagement test." This will judge how much players enjoy engaging with the new features added to increase the player base and reduce the need for bots.

Phase 3 will mean "commissioning to global launch", where discovered bugs will be dealt with, final balancing will occur, and data centres will be deployed worldwide.

"We know it's been a long time waiting (for us too!) and we're eager for the continuation of Soft Launch, and hope this update sheds some light on the situation and next steps. Your ongoing patience and feedback are greatly appreciated!" the dev team said.

Rainbow Six Mobile first entered soft launch in Canada in August 2023. In the months that followed, the game expanded to other regions like Mexico, but its rollout was paused in April 2024 to address "areas for improvement."

At the time, Ubisoft acknowledged the bugs and connection issues that were present and decided to delay the mobile adaptation, promising to deliver a game with high FPS and graphics settings that wouldn’t compromise compatibility.
