The official Weibo account for turn-based RPG game Onmyoji has accused HoYoVerse of plagiarism over similarities between trailers.

As reported by Siliconera, the Weibo post hints at claims that the new trailer for Honkai: Star Rail Sunday is similar to Onmyoji's Jinkougyou trailer.

Several shots in the Honkai: Star Rail trailer resemble scenes from Onmyoji's Jinkougyou trailer, such as the similar light scenes and a CG shot resembling the game itself.

The post did not directly name HoYoVerse but used characters from Honkai: Star Rail's Chinese title.

Previous disputes

This follows a previous dispute between NetEase and Tencent earlier this year over similarities between Honor of Kings and Onmyoji.

It is also not the first plagiarism accusation against HoYoVerse. Earlier  in 2024, the Honkai: Star Rail Sparkle trailer was criticised for resembling the music video for “marenol.”

Honkai: Star Rail's latest Sunday update, which is part of Version 3.0, is set to release later today, December 4, 2024. Elsewhere, NetEase has partnered with Budgie to develop and publish a new mobile shooter Destiny: Rising.
