So here are the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they've made the cut.
Game of Thrones: Legends

Winter has come in Zynga’s latest mobile game, Game of Thrones: Legends. A match-3 RPG leveraging the worldwide famous IP, the game gives the series' fans the chance to establish their own house in Westeros and make allies of popular characters from across the show and its House of the Dragon spinoff.
At launch, those characters already include the likes of Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, Rhaenyra Targaryen, and even Prince Aemon’s Blood Wyrm Caraxes. Obvs. And through a licencing deal with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, they have maintained their likeness from the HBO shows too, offering fans not only familiar names to collect, but familiar faces too.
And speaking of familiar faces, Zynga brought forth some serious star power with Jon Snow himself promoting Game of Thrones: Legends. Or, actor Kit Harrington, rather...
Harrington doesn't reprise his heroic role in the trailer but instead plays a version of himself tired of all the show’s quotes and quips, all too familiar with the synonymity between himself and his character, and going so far as to play Legends on an account named "DontcallmeJon".
Numito

What happens when you multiply thought-provoking brain teasers with casual relaxation? Maths puzzler Numito is here to answer the equation with plenty of tile-sliding fun to keep the mind whirring. Chock-a-block with charming challenges, daily missions and a variety of objectives, Numito’s premise is a simple one with endless possibilities.
In the Basic mode, Numito tasks players with organising tiles of numbers and symbols to equal a given number. Equal mode, as its name suggests, requires reorganisation of the tiles to balance two sides of an equation, and OnlyOne gets more hardcore with - you guessed it - only one acceptable solution per problem.
Puzzle game maker Juanma Altamirano has plenty of experience in the craft across Broki, Chessplode and more, with a colourful yet minimalist style keeping Numito's challenges fresh and appealing.
The Dragon Prince: Xadia

Award-winning Netflix series The Dragon Prince’s multimedia mission is well underway with the launch of a multiplayer RPG titled The Dragon Prince: Xadia. Out now on iOS and Android for Netflix subscribers, the adventure coincides with the release of Season 6 of the animated series and features fan-favourite characters like Callum and Rayla.
Wonderstorm developed this Netflix spinoff in-house and packed it full of champions, abilities and a variety of unlockable gear in classic RPG fashion. Meanwhile, the setting of Xadia offers a fantastical realm to explore, with every setting from floating woodlands to fiery caverns.
What’s more, each region features its own unique enemies and equipment, tempting players to carry on searching for more and more new discoveries wherever they go.
Twilight Survivors

Doridori Studio’s action arcade game Twilight Survivors supplies a new surplus of zippy, zappy, colourful chaos to mobile gamers everywhere, combining bullet heaven shooter gameplay with roguelite mechanics, nine playable characters, over 20 weapons and just as many skills.
These elements can be mixed and matched to a player’s preferences and each of those characters has their own skill tree too - whether that means racing around with gigantic sawblades, launching fireballs or going neon with vibrant green arrows.
Oh, and there are more than 50 monster types… There’s certainly no shortage of combinations, giving each player a highly unique experience - and providing completionists with more than enough to sink their teeth into.
Warlock TetroPuzzle

Somewhere between Tetris, solitaire, and match-3 mechanics (via a splash of arcane magic) you’ll find Maksym Matiushenko’s latest indie game Warlock TetroPuzzle. The block puzzler tasks players with unlocking trapped tiles to clear a board in two sizes of grid - 10x10 and 11x11 - but there’s a highly important twist: the board must be cleared within nine moves.
Electing to bring on the pressure through move-based restrictions over a timer is a major weapon in Warlock TetroPuzzle’s arsenal, arguably making it part strategy game as well as a puzzler.
And developer Maksym Matiushenko has plenty of experience in adapting card and board games to mobile with a back catalogue including Elevenses for One and solitaire-based dungeon crawler Dungeon of Darkness, among others.
